The women's movement in India has in the last few decades developed an awareness of rights, but many a time, the tools used for change simulated the Western model. Grasping novel thoughts, collecting relevant information, systematic preparation and cultivating a mindset were a few grey areas that were missing in the movement. The emphasis was also on age, psyche, culture, and social dynamics.

The visionaries and social workers in India relentlessly addressed women's issues in the familial sphere and social sphere, as well. Today women in India are getting ahead, in the spheres of gender equality, rights, and opportunities. Their own strength and capacity along with constitutional and legal structures have created a conducive atmosphere. The rock-solid foundation of civilizational values, philosophical and religious understanding, inclusive practices and spiritual uplifting has made this possible in a short period. But, both the global and Indian history of women's rights movement have not recognised this reality.

The present volume, divided into four parts, underscores the theoretical understanding of Indic vision and the necessity of developing harmonious discourse with basic tenets of mutual cooperation and interdependence. The vision of oneness from family to the universe is profound in the context of humanity.  The lopsided idea of women's rights has denuded the family structure in the West. This book suggests the way forward, suggesting alternative thoughts, and new directions to proliferate suitable solutions for concurrent problems faced by the world and explore enormous opportunities for further research in this direction.
