Tobdan is a widely read independent scholar, having deep interest in a variety of subjects concerning his district of Lahul and Spiti, and other areas situated around it in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Zanskar. He had been in service with the Reserve Bank of India and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
